The US Department of Commerce announced that since June 23, 2025 (Eastern Time), it will impose an additional 50% tariff on eight categories of steel - made home appliances. These products are uniformly classified as "steel - derived products", covering combined refrigerators, freezers, dryers, washing machines, dishwashers, cooking stoves, etc.
According to a statement from the US Customs and Border Protection (CBP), the import tariff is 50% of the value of the steel content. However, products from the UK are subject to a 25% tariff. Products made of steel melted and poured in the US are exempt from tariffs, even if the products are processed in other countries.
This tariff adjustment is likely to have a significant impact on the global home appliance industry, affecting the import and export trade of related products, as well as the production and sales strategies of home appliance manufacturers. It may also lead to price changes in the home appliance market, which in turn will affect consumer purchasing behavior.
